The Genius of Flexibility Elite Training Program occurs Monday – Thursday from 7:30 am - 3:30 am. The following outline explains the course contents and related activities.
The initial 6 month program is divided into three semesters each of 2 months in duration. Participation in subsequent 6 month programs are defined below under the 2-3 year program. This is an elite training program not a fitness or wellness certification program.
The expressed priority of the ET Program is to first focus on the development of those individuals physically, psychologically, spiritually, and emotionally in ways that are well beyond what is normally required of health care and fitness professionals. Traditionally these occupations develop those individuals through mental educational programs without prioritizing the personal development of those individuals. The characteristic highly functioning personality of ET is the hallmark of our organization. Significant educational expertise in Applied Anatomy, Biomechanics, TCM, GPT, Nutrition, and Sustainable lifestyles are required. There is an essential requirement that the trainers want to be associated with the other ETs and the studio.

Careful selection by Bob and the current ET is performed in selecting new ET. The intention of new applicants to have the ability and desire to develop in all ways, and their 'fitness' and interest in associating themselves with current ET are the most important criteria for entrance into the program.
RFST is a very demanding physical training modality. It requires that the trainer become physically capable of performing assisted RFST, capable of jointly assisting other ET during their sessions, as well as establishing a disciplined personal health program and life style. RFST is also an equally demanding psychological training modality. It requires that the trainers be actively involved in developing themselves psychologically, spiritually, and emotionally. Being in the supportive community environment at the studio is essential to their success in developing themselves.
The Elite Training Program is an apprenticeship based program including both educational studies and hands-on assisting. The program is taught by Bob Cooley, associated quest faculty, and graduate ET.
1. 7:30 am - 8:45 am — Daily Self-RFST Exercise Class
These are taught by current ET graduates. Participants needs to learn 16 types of self stretches for the upper and lower body, the specific muscles involved for both stretching and shortening; the major meridian affected; the essential psychological affects by each of the 16 different types of stretches; difficulty variations for each of the 16 types of stretches — beginning, intermediate, and advanced. Journal entries required.
2. 8:45 am - 9:00 am — Organic Breakfast
Education in preparing nutrient dense organic and sustainable breakfast foods.
3. 9:00 am - 10:00 am — Lecture/Participation/Labs
Lectures by Bob Cooley and associated faculty
Topics include:
- Applied Anatomy and Kinesiology — Learning how to identify and palpate all muscles for the 16 types of stretches using clay models, palpation techniques, computer anatomy interface programs, anatomy DVD's, 3 dimensional actions of muscles, and texts
- RFST Principles — "Stretching - It's all about the fascia"; a new way to strengthen - using the path of weakness; breathing biomechanics, mastery
- Fascia — International Fascia Conference review, dense fascia vs scar tissue; removal techniques
- Human Biomechanics — Bone rotational interrelations (BRI) for posture and movements, kinetic and kinematic patterns, sports specific and performance specific RFST, common substitutions and compensations, communicating ideas these to clients
- Physiology — Organ functions, location, and interrelationships, live blood cell analysis research
- Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Introduction — Principles of TCM, concomitance with the 16 types of stretches, 'body part' association with 16 meridian muscle pathways
- Genetic Personality Types (GPT) — Theory and practice of types. Four world views, 16 types, principles of GPT, perspectives of GPT, balancing types, types of relationships, unconscious types
- Nutrition — Diets for the 16 types, TCM element approach to the 16 types of stretches, nutrient dense food preparation; bio-intensive gardening, bio-dynamic principles and practice
- RFST Research — Dynamometer studies, Quantifying Human Range of Motion (QHROM) research, literature searches EEL, cat stretches, fascia conference
- The Business of RFST — acquiring clients, client referrals, group and corporate classes, athletes and performers, bookkeeping, offering domestic and international trainings, supplemental income
4. 10:00 am - 11:30 am — Assist Bob with client (two ETs)
5. 11:30 am - 12:30 pm — Organic Lunch
Organic food education, and studio sales of these products. Creating educational materials for products and client participation in these products.
6. 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm — New ET assist current graduate ETs
7. 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm — New ET assist each other
8. 2:30 - 3:30 pm — New ET Assist Bob
Learning how to assist RFST requires considerable education and practice. Getting assisted by new ET, assisting other ET and Bob in their sessions, getting assisted by Bob and graduate ET. Postural upgrades and rehabilitation. Learning the principles of assisting including the vector approach, developing the manipulation sensitivities, and learning how to communicate to clients a clear understanding about their concerns are essential skills.
7. 3:30 pm — Group study, labs, aerobic and strength training classes
Friday through Sunday — Private sessions and classes, study, internship program with organic farms and sustainable companies, GPT class, fun
Three two-month periods will cover the same topics in different ways. Each week two balancing meridian muscle groups are studied including: organ functions, meridian pathways, meridian muscle groups, concomitances, resistance stretches, assisted resistance stretches, and GPT. Thus, 16 MMG will be covered over each two-month period, and this will be repeated three times during the initial 6 month training.
1. Completion and Approval of Application
2. Interview approval by Bob and staff
3. Financial approval
1. Weekly journal entries from self stretch sessions due on Monday
2. Labs are due by Friday of each week
3. Tri-semester exam at the end of each trimester
4. End of trimester assessment by Bob
5. Feedback about assisting skills from current ETs and Bob
6. Possible domestic and international travel with performers
1. ET receive 65% of the income from private session for up to the first 5 sessions; and 75% when 6 -10 per weeks are performed.
2. ET I charge $100-$125 per session for the first 6-12 months. ET graduates involved in the 2-3 year program charge depending on their skill level and expertise ranging from $150-$250 during the second year and $250-$400 or more thereafter. Note all ET are limited to 10 sessions per week maximum. Ample time must be organized for being assisted, study, and research.

5. Additional income from domestic and international workshops .
6. Opening additional The Genius of Flexibility Centers in other cities and countries is encouraged. Enquire for details.
It has been our experience that it takes two years to develop the personal development and knowledge to effectively work with people and an additional year to be competent to work with professional and Olympic athletes and artistic performers. The ET program is specifically intended to develop individuals to work with elite individuals, to train new ETs, and to be interested in working domestically and internationally. This is not a program to train normal fitness professionals.

All ET are required to participate in our outreach program by volunteering in working with organic and sustainable companies during the first 6 month program. Participation with these companies usually occurs thereafter but is optional.
After the first 6 month program, those ET are then trained daily by the new ET for the next 6 months. Assisting Bob both in the studio and in other locations is expected. Bob also does private sessions with all ET following the first 6 month program. Specializing with types of individuals or groups usually occurs by ET. For example, some ET prefer working with athletes of different levels, others with special problem individuals.
A masters thesis is required to complete the two year program, and an internship for one year to complete the three year program.
Bob and the current ET decide if anyone at the studio is not living up to the character health required of members of the studio. If at any time, an individual is not exhibiting behaviors characteristic of our program, the person is given written notice with recommendations and a time line to correct those behaviors. If termination occurs, the individual has agreed in advance not to participate in copyright or compete in related businesses with the studio.
It is a requirement that everyone that is involved in the Elite Training Program sign a 3 year non-disclosure and non-compete agreement. Generally speaking, ET are encouraged to work from The Genius of Flexibility Center in Boston, but others live in other cities and countries and may wish to open a center or practice elsewhere, sometimes in other countries. Income from all related activities to the ET training fall within the rate structure for private sessions for the first three years (see TGFC document for details).
